September 2021 #100screenplays

September 2021 #100screenplays

Who's been eating salad and drinking more water? THIS GIRL RIGHT HERE.

I mean, I have no expectation of having a small booty again, but hey, I'm down a pants size.

I'm celebrating the smallest of victories because I've experienced a couple periods of depression this year (as many of us have) which makes selfcare feel kind of like doing homework in wet cement. For me, it's less about feeling sad and more like the emotional equivalent of watching paint dry. If you know, you know.

One big huge bummer is that I won't be able to give out #freemomhugs at Chicago Pride next month because the event organizers had to cancel. At this point, the U.S. has just reached about 75% of adults with at least one vaccination dose. I sure hope you've had yours if you're able. I'm only doing standup at venues that require vaccination for entry. No travel...YET.

I planned to release my YA sequel in October as well, but I really don't want to launch when I can't plan in-person book signings outside of Chicagoland. I'm not keen on helping spread the evil cooties, nor do I want to get multiple covid tests or have to keep quarantining...so I recently made the decision to wait. My new launch date is now May 13, 2022. (Yes, that's Friday the 13th.) In the meantime, my audiobook is still being recorded (also got delayed because of covid) and maybe that will be available before the end of 2021. Fingers crossed.

Big pat on the back to all my fellow writing pals who've pushed through the summer (and current events) and kept things going into autumn! Yay! We did it. Woohoo!

Here's my script reading list for September:

  1. Titanic
  2. The Breakfast Club
  3. Adaptation
  4. Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
  5. My Girl
  6. Napoleon Dynamite
  7. Fargo
  8. The Wizard of Oz
  9. Clueless
  10. Ferris Bueller's Day Off
  11. Fast Times at Ridgemont High
  12. Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid

#100Screenplays 2021 reading challenge by the numbers:

Total yet-to be produced scripts: 34

Total produced scripts: 102

2021 Grand total: 136

My thoughts:

It's been fun to read/re-read these. I know this list looks BONKERS AF. But sometimes my list just ends up like this. I chose a few because they were written by the same person, some for funny dialogue, and a few for the adults vs teens dynamic. Okay, it actually is BONKERS AF. Maybe it's all the salads.

Keep writing friends,
